Can be used in cases where the install failed or was interrupted, such as when a client’s antivirus has blocked an install and after the block being lifted the install still is not successful.

1. **uninstall “The CRE Suite”** from the Windows Control Panel (Programs & Settings), if it exists

2. delete the CREModels Ribbon folder in C:\users[username]\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\ - **(if you can’t see the AppData folder, navigate to item 2a)** it will be named something random like BWGG1815W.VRR and have another random-named folder inside there. then, inside that folder you will see a reference to CREModels Ribbon. If for some reason the system won’t let you delete the files, go inside the folders and delete as many as you can, this will allow the install to figure out that something’s wrong and will let a new one be installed. If you continue to have issues, you can delete the entire “2.0” folder.

3. **Navigate to RegEdit**. Navigate to the search box through the taskbar, type **regedit** then select **regedit Run command.**

4. **delete the registry key at HKEY\_CURRENT\_USER\Software\Microsoft\VSTA\Solutions{GUID}** - you should only have to delete one GUID, but **delete the entire Solutions folder** , including everything inside. you need to look inside the GUID folder to make sure it’s the correct one.

5. delete setup.exe, setup (1).exe, etc… all versions from the user’s download folder

6. open internet explorer **(MUST BE INTERNET EXPLORER)** and **add [https://s3.amazonaws.com](https://s3.amazonaws.com)** to the list of trusted sites

7. disable any antivirus, reboot if necessary

8. use google chrome (if possible) and re-download the file from [https://s3.amazonaws.com/cremodels-public2/ribbon-master/setup.exe](https://s3.amazonaws.com/cremodels-public2/ribbon-master/setup.exe)

9. run the newly downloaded setup.exe

It’s common to see an error like the below that says “Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: entryValue” or “Parameter name: entry Value”

When you see this error, follow the above steps and make sure ALL antivirus is disabled. Most commonly this error occurs when Webroot is installed on the computer. When this occurs, their IT provider needs to [follow these steps to run a fresh install.](https://kb.cremodels.com/t/installing-the-cre-suite-with-webroot/495)

Note that Webroot is currently pending an acquisition by Carbonite, so we may need to keep an eye out for them as well for the above issue
